About the Duck
(Katie Olivier)

In all honesty, I'm never sure how to introduce or describe myself. It always seems an almost impossible task. I'm not sure if this means I'm supremely interesting or just really damned dull. Hmmm.

I was born in Los Angeles on July 17, 1979, and I've never lived anywhere else. I love traveling - I hope to see as much of the world as possible in my lifetime - but LA will always be home to me. I share a little house in Tarzana with my husband Doug (the Gomez to my Morticia).

When I was 7, I started to write journal entries in the persona of a fantastical creature from an equally fantastical realm. I guess that was my earliest attempt at writing, and it was great because I never worried about all those overrated elements like character development, plot, structure, proper spelling, basic grammar...

Writing became a lot more tedious once people started to expect all those elements from me. And this would explain why I have three unfinished and heartlessly abandoned novels sitting on my hard drive. However, I think I'm finally onto something with the novel I'm writing now, which will be the first book of a short fantasy series. More on that as things progress.

I think this site itself can give you, at the very least, a vague idea of my interests, influences, obsessions, and unadulterated geekery. And if you're really bored, I've also got a deviantArt page.

Cheers...and many thanks for visiting the den!
