Priceless Video Game Intros

This page was originally supposed to be in the "Top 10" section, but I just couldn't think of any other video game intros that are on the same level as these three. So for now, I suppose it'll have to be "Three Video Game Intros that amuse Katie no end".

Blaster Master

Perhaps the funniest part of this intro is how utterly unfazed I was by it when I played it as a kid. It starts off innocently enough. A young boy looking at his pet toad. The toad escaping (love the "oh no!" expression on the kid's face). The toad hopping off into the kid's front yard as he chases after it. The toad jumping onto some bizarre container of radioactive waste which just happens to be sitting there. Wait, what? Um, isn't it dangerous to leave radioactive waste exposed? And what the hell is it doing in the front yard of this suburban house? I'm sure that's violating some sort of safety law. Wait, it gets better. Upon touching this radioactive thing, the toad instantly grows about nine times its size. Then it jumps into a large mysterious hole in the ground, which the kid has somehow never noticed before. Of course he does the logical thing and jumps in after it. He doesn't find the toad, but he DOES find an awesome tank and some cool armor, which just happens to fit him perfectly. He then hops in the tank and takes off into this strange underground world without bothering to leave a note for his parents. I was never able to win Blaster Master (despite years of trying), and therefore I never truly discovered just what the point of the game was. Other than retrieving your radioactive toad.

Zero Wing

Zero Wing is possibly the best example of "Engrish" at its finest. While "All your base are belong to us" is undoubtedly the most famous line from Zero Wing, I'd have to say that my personal favorite is the captain shouting, "What you say !!"

Bad Dudes

Perhaps the all-time greatest premise for a video game. Whenever I read those two straightforward sentences at the beginning of Bad Dudes, I am rendered into almost uncontrollable hysterics. Just...just watch it.
